Formed in 2003, The Partners in Road Construction Safety (PIRCS) is a concerned group of public and private sector organizations whose goal is to reduce collisions in road construction zones and improve driver attitudes toward road and utility workers.
PIRCS partners include Alberta Transportation, the Alberta Construction Safety Association, the City of Edmonton, the Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association, City of St. Albert, Strathcona County, EPCOR, Edmonton Police Service, and WorkSafe Alberta.
Since its inception, PIRCS has spent approximately $2.4 million to promote safe driving in road construction zones through radio, television and billboard advertising.
The province-wide PIRCS hopes to reduce the more than 900 collisions that occur every year at roadway construction sites in Alberta. PIRCS has spent approximately $2.4 million since its creation in 2003 to promote construction zone safety through radio and television advertising, billboards, and signage in construction zones that feature the well-known Dont RIP Through Construction Zones slogan.
